In the first week, we acquired the floor plan for the third-floor laboratories and conducted precise measurements using a measuring tape. Due to the tape's 5-meter length limitation, we ensured accuracy for longer distances by taking multiple measurements and calculating the average to minimise errors.
With a delay in receiving our components, we focused on organising our workflow. We assigned specific roles to each team member and completed a comprehensive measurement of the entire third floor of the EEE building. Using this data, we created a detailed floor layout, marking transmitter locations (indicated by “T”) and including dimensions for various sections. The floor plan highlights key areas such as teaching rooms, laboratories, staircases, and specific equipment placements.
On the software side, we conducted research to determine the most suitable programming language for implementing RSSI value mapping and tomography, comparing Python and MATLAB based on their strengths, limitations, and alignment with the project’s requirements. We finalised key decisions regarding our overall approach and began developing pseudocode to outline the logical structure and flow of the implementation, setting the foundation for the initial code drafting process.
